|For the past 30 years, Project Christmas Cheer has worked in conjunction with the residents of Carteret County to prove that yes, there is a Santa Claus. Many families have applied for assistance and after meeting the criteria, children wear new coats, pants, shirts, pajamas and underwear that find their way into beautifully wrapped boxes and under Christmas trees to be opened on Christmas morning. Baby dolls, toy trucks, puzzles, basketballs, bicycles, board games and a variety of other toys provide hours of entertainment and fun for children who have so little.
Those in need have increased consistently over the years and Carteret County has stepped forward each and every year. Churches, businesses, and individuals support Project Christmas Cheer by adopting families, children, and the elderly. Project Christmas Cheer is also supported by financial donations that allow us to provide gift cards to the children that have not been adopted.
This process really works.
Matthew 25:35-40 says, “When I was hungry, you fed me; when I was naked, you clothed me; when I was a stranger, you helped me.” Then these righteous ones will reply. “When did we feed you or clothe your or help you, Lord.” And the Lord will reply, “When you did it to these my brothers, you were doing it unto me.”
